WHY did Alexander Hamilton want to move the US capital to District of Colombia?

so the south would accept his financial plan of uming states dabts. The south didnt like it because they didnt have as much state debt and were pretty close to getting it paid off, unlike the north. They didnt want to have to pay heavy taxes for debt that didnt belong to them so Hamilton said he would the capitol lower south which would bring industry and commerce.
