Organic chem synthesis?

SOCl2 would convert the acid function to an acid chloride which in the presence of AlCl3 would electrophilically attach the aromatic ring to make a fused ring system - 6 atoms/ring - 2 common atoms at ring junction- one ring aromatic, the other not - Look up Hayworth syntheses, etc.
