Why will my computer not play video?

Hi, Mike here. I have a computer with a P4 1.5 ghz CPU. Memory is SDRAM 133. Nvidia AGP card (works fine in other comp) Running Ubuntu Linux. Computer seems fine but will not play vids. Some screensavers freeze frame or freeze up. Would this probably be the CPU or the MOBO causing the problem?
